Week 30 Tommy Classic Golf Outing

Every year, my buddy has a golf outing, the Tommy Classic. Unfortunately, he was away this year. Undaunted, we had the outing on its usual day. We brought Tommy along for the ride anyway.

Week 30

A tradition at the Tommy Classic is that we all play the last hole at the same time. Here we have four of us teeing off at the same time. We did break tradition this year by playing the last 3 holes as a ninesome.

Beer, cigars, and a 7 hour round makes for another successful Tommy Classic golf outing. We close out the day with pizza at Aurelio's in Homewood. We would like to thank the golf course for putting up with us for the last 12 or so years.

Week 29 More Evanston

This week the new Harry Potter book came out. People really did line up to buy it Saturday morning. Barnes and Noble led the charge of big business coming to Evanston. The causualty was local book seller Kroch's and Brentanos.

Einstein bagels now resides in the former home of Hoos drugstore. This was the only drugstore I've ever been in that had a full service photography section.

Week 27 Evanston

Took a walk through downtown Evanston the other week. They are trying to revitalize the shopping district and throw off the ways of old. Remember, Evanston was one of the birthplaces of the temperance movement.

After much wrangling with financing, Sherman Plaza is finally getting off the ground. This a highrise with condos and retail space.Here is a mural that lines the construction barricade.

The Orrington Hotel was recently remodeled. It was a total gut and update. This upscale restaurant now resides in the space where McDonalds once was.
