Erics Picture a Week Blog

This is my new site for my 2007 Picture a Week project. In 2006 I moved to a photoblog format and feel very comfortable with it. This site allows me to post more than one picture per week. Of course it tells if I don't keep up with the weekly posting. Also included is the archive for my 2005 Picture a Week project.

Week 51

With the christmas holidays upon us, I've not shot anything for this weeks offering. I thought I'd dig into the archive and found a couple of shots from the Skokie Lagoon area.

Week 51

This bridge on Tower road was finally finished last year after what seemed like an enternity. These photos are really more impressive on the lightbox, you can't beat 6x9 slides for color and clarity. Next year I'll take the plunge for some 4x5 chromes.

Week 50 Trees

Recently, I've been going through a couple of books on trees. These aren't the"Horticulture for Chuckleheads" series, but books by Adam Ansel and John Sexton. While it's not likely that I'll ever compete with these guys, the subjects normally don't complain or scold you when you try to take their picture. ( I'm still traumatized from the nun yelling at me.)

Week 50 Trees

Trees do have a lot of character whether by themselves of in groups. They are actually more interesting during the fall and winter.

This series taken with a Bessa R3a, 40mm Nokton, HP5+@I200 souped in HC110b.

Week 49

A couple pictures from the way back machine. My buddies and I went to see Rush at the legendary Chicago Amphitheater back 1980. They made this banner to display at the show.

Week 49 Rush

Rush is a three piece band out of Canada. Alex Liefson is on guitar and Geddy Lee is playing the Rickenbacker. I think my ears are still ringing.

Week 49 Rush

I guess good old tri-x can stand the test of time. It is fun to look at these old negatives. It looks like its time to return to the darkroom and see what we can develop.

Week 48

This year I also have turned to the dark slide, large format photography. There is this tree on the local golf course that has a lot of character as well as ball marks. I was in the line of fire when I took this one late in the day. Fore!!
