Erics Picture a Week Blog
This is my new site for my 2007 Picture a Week project. In 2006 I moved to a photoblog format and feel very comfortable with it. This site allows me to post more than one picture per week. Of course it tells if I don't keep up with the weekly posting. Also included is the archive for my 2005 Picture a Week project.

Just a regular guy wandering the many paths of life. I'm trying to document part of these travels through my photography and also express my creativity through woodworking and building things.

Week 13
My son was given his first sailing lesson after a couple minutes. And I thought photography was expensive.
Bessa R3a, 40 Nokton, FP4 @125 in DIY-odinal. I've been experimenting with a generic Rodinal made of Tylenol, lye, and sodium sulfite among other goodies. I am getting nearly rated speed with this formula. I spent about 20 bucks on ingredients, but I should have enough to last a long time. I also have Tylenol for those headaches.

Week 12
On a recent foray with my 4x5 setup, these curious visitors came into my groundglass. There were actually 5 or 6 of these fellows originally, but by the time I was able to get the shot off everyone else was on their way. Unfortunately, my 35mm was safely tucked away in my car. Maybe it is time to get a Speed Graphic or something.
Anba Ikeda 4x5, 210 G claron, Forte 400 @ EI200 souped Hc110b.

Week 11
Chicago is a city of extremes. Where else can you find two restaurants on both ends of the price range sharing the same entrance. For the price of an appetizer at Nick's, you can feed a family of four at the golden arches. I wonder if you can use Nick's valet parking if you eat at McDonalds?
Leica M2, 35 summicron, HP5 @400 in xtol.

Week 10
In my continuing fascination with trees, I found this stand containing a couple of decaying and fallen trees. I doubt these mushrooms have any magical powers.
This week, I started reading Barry Thorntons "Edge of Darkness". While he dives into different developer strategies, he also advocates pretty basic ideas like using a tripod and medium format film. This gave me incentive to drag out my tripod and my other M6 (Mamiya) camera for these couple shots.

Week 10
I spotted these a couple weeks ago while driving and finally had the chance to photograph them Next time I'll try the morning to get that nice dawn light.
The first shot was Arista 400 @EI100 souped in HC110b. The second one was tri-x @EI200 souped in DIY-odinal. This is suppose to be generic Rodinal, made from tylenol and lye among other things.

Week 9
Still on my tree kick, the snow piles up on one of my favorite subjects.
This weeks pics are taken with a newly acquired Kiev with a Zeiss Opton 50mm F1.5 lens. The bokeh on this lens is probably my favorite out of the 50's I've used. I really need to get a decent body, the Kiev is quirky to say the least. Film is my standard HP5 @200 in Hc110b
